Valorsul converted half a tonne of old uniforms into 60 blankets, which were donated to more than 50 users of the Life and Peace Community Rehabilitation Centre, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.
In the last quarter of 2024, Valorsul, the company responsible for treating and recovering waste in the Lisbon and West areas, began an internal campaign to collect uniforms with outdated logos or that did not fulfil safety requirements.
As part of its commitment to the circular economy and sustainability, Valorsul endeavoured to ensure that the uniforms collected had an environmentally responsible destination. In partnership with To Be Green, which specialises in upcycling textiles, Valorsul sent the uniforms for recycling, which were transformed into 60 recycled fibre blankets, donated to the Vida e Paz Community, along with 255 shirts, 38 jackets, 30 trousers, 10 polo shirts and 200 aprons, distributed to people at risk, previously identified by the institution.
‘Valorsul has a deep commitment to the circular economy, which is reflected in concrete actions such as this. Transforming old uniforms into blankets and giving them to the Life and Peace Community is a clear example of how we can give materials a new life, contributing to social and environmental well-being. By ensuring that the materials we use have a responsible destination, we are creating a more sustainable and supportive future for everyone,’ emphasises Marta Neves, CEO of Valorsul.
