Winners of the “Data Changemaker of the Year” Award with the ReSOURCE Project

ALGAR, in partnership with NILG.AI, is proud to announce that it has won the prestigious “Data Changemaker of the Year” award, promoted by DSPA (Data Science Portuguese Association) and NOVA SBE.

This recognition was awarded thanks to the innovative project “Artificial intelligence tool for container placement”, an artificial intelligence tool developed under the Resource 3.0 program of SPV (Sociedade Ponto Verde).

This innovative tool is an advanced solution that uses artificial intelligence to optimize the placement of waste containers, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the waste management system. This project focuses on sustainability and the circular economy, and aims to respond to the growing challenge of intelligent waste management in Portugal. By enabling better allocation of containers, the project aims to reduce operating costs, optimize routes and, above all, contribute to a more sustainable future.

Winning this award also reinforces the relevance of the ReSOURCE program on the national innovation and digital transformation scene. The partnership between ALGAR and Portuguese start-up NILG.AI was a key element in the success of this project, benefiting from NILG.AI's technical know-how in artificial intelligence and ALGAR's experience in waste management. This award not only validates the value of the work being done, but also gives the team an extra boost to continue innovating.

As a next step, there are plans to hold a live/podcast with the participation of ALGAR, NILG.AI and Beta-i, focusing on the ReSOURCE project and the concept of open innovation. This will be an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, discuss the challenges faced and explore the future of AI technologies applied to waste management.

This award not only recognizes the potential of this project, but also highlights the importance of collaboration between companies, associations and academic institutions in developing innovative and sustainable solutions to global challenges.
